I take extremely good care of my vehicles as well. Had plugs pcv valve and all fluids done at 100k and a month later heard the ticking. Cost me about 3k in repairs.
The lifters are whats expensive. Mine was a bad lifter roller bearing on cylinder 8. Caused a flat spot and ate through the cam.
